Personality:

Jimin has built quite a reputation for himself as a hard partier with a devil-may-care attitude and one hell of a flirtatious streak. Whether he's the campus sleaze or the campus tease is entirely in the eyes of the beholder. On the outside, he seems little interested in pursuing his studies and more interested in how many rum and cokes he can gulp down before noon. It isn't unusual to see him in class hungover, looking a bit like death's incarnate. It's easy for the general populace to see someone who's barely scraping by, but he has some other noteworthy traits, too. For one, he is exceedingly loyal, a fact virtually no one knows because few are close to him. To remain a mystery is something he rather prefers. Better to be an enigma and not have anyone look twice. To strangers, Jimin is polite and easygoing (especially to those of the fairer sex), and doesn't go out of his way to bother anyone.

Jimin loves to read poetry and novels, able to retain and recite quotes that he uses to his advantage depending on the situation (most people think it's a weird habit). Given that he doesn't seem to care about anything, this comes as rather a surprise, if not an outright contradiction. He is a deep thinker who often thinks too much, as seen in the way he tries to cope with alcohol and, erhm, stimulants. He knows that handling his problems in that way isn't right, but right now he's unconcerned with the outcome. Beneath Jimin's gregarious persona are beautiful, complicated layers that are rarely glimpsed and seldom heard of.

Background:

TW: Alcohol use & attempted suicide

There's a reason why Jimin doesn't say much about his past. While it wasn't the most horrible K-Drama fuel to ever be, his family life certainly wasn't the greatest. His parents fought almost constantly, and it wasn't uncommon for Jimin to be forced to break up fights himself. Being an only child gave him the profound sense of loneliness that only single children understand fully, and as a result he often kept to his room. It was there that he found solace in reading his mother's old novels and listening to music. Every day seemed the same: wake up, make his mother some tea, read the same novels cover to back, absolutely dread when his father came home from work. While none of the fighting was directed at him, the yelling waged war on his young ears until finally, Jimin sought out ways to dull his senses. It began with breaking into the liquor cabinet, and at the young age of 13, Jimin was experimenting at least once a week. As he progressed into his teenage years, he went to all the parties he could go to (some he was invited to, some not), and took every excuse to escape the house. His grades plummeted as a result, giving his parents something new to fight over.

Jimin lived life numb, not allowing himself to stand still lest he fall into the yawning abyss of depression that taunted him at his feet. How could a straight A student suddenly be at risk of failing? He drowned his parents out with more alcohol, more thoughtless nights. Underneath all the ignorance, Jimin started to blame himself for things becoming even worse in the household. His mother, once a piano coach, couldn't even hold lessons in a house with such embedded anger. His father wanted to put his whole businessman's salary toward getting Jimin professional help. All the stress, fear, loneliness and anger built up inside Jimin until it was all he could feel.

On a chilly bright morning, a week before his birthday, Jimin's best friend Jungkook found him near death, a bottle of pills scattered on the floor near him. One could say that this was the turning point in his life. After he was discharged from the hospital, his parents agreed to a divorce, as it was obvious nothing could salvage their relationship. In a way it brought relief to Jimin. Nearly taking his own life made him think more closely about actually living, and so he did what he could to both raise and maintain his grades. Following graduation, Jimin decided on attending Yonsei University. His interest in people, especially their relationships, lead him to aim at a major in Psychology. He's now a Sophomore who keeps up a respectable average, despite his continued partying. His parents, having split up peacefully, both encourage him and keep in regular contact. The world is at Jimin's feet, and he stands ready to take it.

Howdy! Mun speaking. I'm 22 years old and don't have any triggers. However, you should be aware that Jimin indulges in the non-sensible things of life, so alcohol and drugs will occasionally be mentioned. I have no preference between para or script. :3 Things will be added to this page as I go. Thanks for reading and I look forward to plotting with you!
